Wet Hot American Summer
This film is a comedy that follows campers of Camp Firewood as they go on their last day of camp. This movie, in a way, is about coming-of-age and figuring out who you are. The stoner audience will enjoy this film for the comedic aspects, the weed references, and the nostalgia.
Super Troopers
This cult classic comedy follows five Vermont state troopers who are then given a mission to go undercover at a local highway joint. With ridiculous situations and witty dialogue, this film is worth watching stoned.
Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle
Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle is a 2004 comedy about two friends who drive across the country in search of the best burgers available. Harold (John Cho) and Kumar (Kal Penn) are both stoners and this film has been praised for its realistic portrayal of marijuana use. The entire movie follows these characters as they get high, then act out their hare-brained schemes. If you’ve ever wanted to see how an edible might affect your perception, this movie will have you laughing hysterically!
Molly’s Game: Molly’s Game is based on the memoir of Molly Bloom, who ran one of the world’s most exclusive high-stakes poker games and was also one of very few female poker players at that time. The poker scenes are perfect for when you want some extra intensity.
Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
It’s not hard to see why this movie made our list of the best movies to watch stoned! The 2004 drama, Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, is a mind-bending sci-fi love story. When Joel and Clementine meet each other at a party, sparks fly. They both leave with a date and all seems well. But when they wake up in bed together the next morning, they start to get a little freaked out by their respective memories being erased by them and being replaced by different ones. Joel seeks help from Dr. Mierzwiak who offers him an experimental process that would erase his memories of Clementine – but after some deliberation, he decides against it. Clementine doesn’t know what she wants so decides to have her memory erased anyway.
Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas
There’s a reason Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is one of the most iconic stoner movies ever. The 1998 film, directed by Terry Gilliam, stars Johnny Depp as Hunter S. Thompson’s alter-ego Raoul Duke and Benicio Del Toro as his attorney Dr. Gonzo. The duo hit the road for a wild ride through 1970s America with drugs, booze, gambling, and other vices in tow on their search for the American Dream.
Fight Club
If you’re looking for a movie that will have you questioning your sanity, look no further. Fight Club is the perfect movie to watch high. The film begins with a man named Jack who works as a product recall specialist for a major car company. He spends his days in his windowless office with nothing but time on his hands and insomnia haunting him at night.
Donnie Darko
In this cult classic, Donnie Darko is a troubled teen that was a victim of abuse. As he tries to make sense of the world around him and his place in it, he starts experiencing supernatural visions. These visions are often abstract or inexplicable and typically foreshadow coming tragedies. One of the most well known scenes in the movie is when Frank tells him about seeing an angel which sets off a series of events that lead to Frank’s death. This film has an all-star cast that includes Jake Gyllenhaal, Drew Barrymore, Patrick Swayze and Jena Malone.
Movies like Donnie Darko offer a trippy experience unlike any other with abstract scenes and weird happenings such as characters turning into giant rabbits for example.
The Big Lebowski
This 1998 comedy from the Coen brothers is a cult classic, and one of the best movies to watch stoned. The film follows Jeff Bridges as the Dude, an unemployed slacker who is trying to find his kidnapped wife’s kidnapper without getting any help from the police. As he searches for answers, he becomes embroiled in a bizarre plot with two gangsters, played by John Goodman and Steve Buscemi. Many fans say that this movie has funny dialogue and good pacing – both of which make it perfect for watching while high. Many people agree that this is one of the best movies to watch stoned!
